Katy Barrell was raised on a dairy farm high on the North Cornwall Coast.
She trained at Half Acre, Boscastle, Falmouth School of Art and gained a BA Hons degree at Bradford and Ilkley School of Art and design. Whilst teaching in Cleveland, Devon and Powys she continued to paint and exhibit. Her paintings are held in collections in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Luxembourg, California, Canada and Australia.
The lie of the land, the rhythm of the tides and the stories of place are the visual and lyrical inspiration for her paintings.
