Lucy Hawkins

Lucy Hawkins is an artist based in Cornwall, she graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in 1996 with a First Class BA (Hons) in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design, gained an MA with Distinction in 2001 from Birmingham Institute of Art and Design and a PGCE in Art from Exeter University in 2002.
Lucy says, “My current work is inspired by the Southwest landscape. I often paint outdoors to capture the world around me.
I like to experience a place, to gather inspiration in situ and be immersed in a location. The colours seem more vivid, the marks more visceral when applied outdoors. I work with acrylics, oils and mixed media to make at times semi abstract pieces. Through colour, mark making and surface I aim to make an immediate response to the world around me. My practice has developed alongside a career in Art and Design education, which I enjoy and have continued learning through showing others how to make art”
