From the 6th – 31st December Cornish Art Gallery in Perranuthnoe will be exhibiting a collection of new oil paintings by Cornish artist Andrew Giddens.

This new body of work draws on this well established artist’s experiences and techniques gleaned from over twenty years of studying the changing nuances and moods of the sea around his home on the south coast of Cornwall. Working in oil, often large scale, his understanding of the swells and tides ebbs and flows across these canvasses in rich thick oil paint.

The quality of the light that Cornwall is famous for is found emanating from these paintings, from stormy wintery seas to crisp blue shore breaks, there is a glow and vibrancy about this work that sets it apart. Like jewels from the ocean there is a purity and integrity found here that has come from the artists many hours of ocean exploration and time at the easel, just as the tides come in again and again, each new work brings with it a new story and a new expression of the beauty of the south Cornwall shoreline.
