This piece is created using found and reclaimed woods, layered with thick oil paints to add texture and depth. The vessels name ‘Endurance’ is inspired by Ernest Shackleton’s recently discovered ship, which was famously stuck in sea ice during his Antarctic expedition. This reference emphasises the theme of resilience, highlighting the ship’s ability to withstand relentless elements despite being abandoned. The use of these materials and the historical connection create a strong depiction of perseverance and steadfastness.
