“Fore and Aft” is a painting depicting familiar nautical scenes inspired from my countless wanderings around Cornish rivers at low tide. The title is a nautical term describing the front and back of a ship, referencing the two rowing boats at the extremities of the piece which serve as framing devices, leading the eye toward the central vessels intricate structural timbers.
